We want to point out the following important information:

  • Foreign sailors who do not have a sailing federation license shall prove they are holders of accident and illness insurance valid in Spain
  • This regatta is considered Category 3 with life-raft on board as defined in the World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations in force
  • Sailing is, by nature, an unpredictable sport and, therefore, inherently involves risk. Sailors and support personnel taking part in the regatta do so at their own risk. Attention is drawn to RRS Rule 3: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone’.

Lanzarote

Lanzarote is the easternmost of the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa and part of the province of Las Palmas.  The volcanic island has a stunning variety of landscapes including sandy beaches, rocky coastline, mountain ranges and even a desert.

Puerto Calero

Puerto Calero marina, positioned in a naturally protected enclave on Lanzarote’s sheltered south coast, has earned a reputation as one of the world’s top sailing destinations while retaining a characteristic village-type atmosphere.  Well-regarded restaurants quietly line the waterfront and onsite services include a boatyard, shops, car and bike hire.

Mission accomplished

  • First ever Austrian boat in The Ocean Race
  • Third place in the overall ranking
  • Largest social fan community of the fleet

An exhilarating leg of The Ocean Race VO65 Sprint unfolded with a thrilling game of patience. Amidst shifting winds, we experienced the rollercoaster of leading and trailing until a spectacular turnaround just 50 miles from the finish propelled us to secure 4th place in this stage and maintain our impressive 3rd position overall. The 2,200-mile journey from The Hague to Genoa took the team through formidable challenges—navigating the English Channel, braving the Bay of Biscay, conquering Gibraltar, and traversing the vast expanse of the Mediterranean. The triumphant homecoming was an emotional spectacle marked by tears of joy, cascading confetti, and radiant smiles.
