RORC Channel Race
The Channel Race was originally the second ‘ocean race’, established by the Ocean Racing Club in 1928. In those days the race was aimed towards smaller boats and the course included the Cherbourg Breakwater. In recent years this course has been set around marks, the exact route decided after taking into account the wind and tidal conditions.
Starting from the Royal Yacht Squadron line, the course will be designed to last around 24 hours and will test offshore sailing and boat handling in equal measure, taking in offshore marks and waypoints around the south coast and into the Channel, before returning to the Solent.
