Volvo 65 Childhood 1 renamed Janssen de Jong
In September 2021, after returning from The Ocean Race Europe, the boat was named, Janssen de Jong instead of Childhood 1. The sponsorship fits the Janssen de Jong Group’s vision of team building and achieving goals. It is a wonderful metaphor for daily work and fits well with the core values Guts, Solution-oriented and Together. The sponsorship was a logical continuation of their sponsorship of the 69F youth foil project Team DutchSail – Janssen de Jong. Both campaigns focus on training young talented sailors. Janssen de Jong would like to inspire the new generation with entrepreneurship, innovation and courage. Show that dreams come true if you push and work together.
After a great sailing campaign of more than two months, Team Childhood I arrived home in the port of The Hague with the Volvo 65. The team won the prologue during this period and finished fourth in The Ocean Race Europe. Janssen de Jong Group has taken over the position of the World Childhood Foundation on the boat.
THE OCEAN RACE 2022-2023
Sailing Holland and DutchSail have a joint ambition to appear at the start of The Ocean Race in 2022-2023 with the VO65. After previous participations in 2014-2015 and 2017-2018 as Team Brunel, it would be the third time that this Dutch boat appears at the start. Ivo van der Mark: “Although Janssen de Jong Groep will not commit itself as the main sponsor to The Ocean Race 2022-2023, we are proud that with the current partnership we can form the foundation for the ambitions of the team.”

Welcome onboard Volvo 65 Janssen de Jong
The next edition of the Ocean Race will start in January 2023 in Alicante, Spain. Sailing Holland, Owner of VO65 003, former Team Brunel and Dutchsail created a partnership to get the budget together for participation. As part of the preparations for the 2022-23 edition of The Ocean Race, the boat will join the Caribbean Racing Circuit. As training for the young crew members and to give partners the opportunity to sail onboard the Volvo 65 you are able to join the boat for a race or delivery. This way you support the team to get on the start line in Alicante.
Program 2022
Transatlantic Crossing
The VO65 will cross the Atlantic from Curacao to The Hague end of April/beginning of May 2022. The exact date for this Transat has not been decided yet. Custom charters
